Turn Organic garbbage into Charcoal Bussiness

What is garbage?

·Gabage is unwanted material at that time.

Where does it come from?

·Garbage can be generated from homes, schools, work places, among many others

What happens if waste is not managed properly?

·Diseases such as Diarrhea, Malaria, and Cholera, dysentery, worms etc and disasters are some of the possible outcomes from poor management.

What should we do to reduce garbage?

·         Garbage should be made useful in order for it to be reduced.

What are the benefits of good waste management?

At the end of the story, u can appreciate the need for garbage recycling and were more than ready to learn about the different ways of reusing and reducing garbage. Note that solid waste management is a major issue in the slums where the federation members reside.

Waste management as defined in the training refers to how we handle waste. A demonstration on how waste can be managed was made and this can be adopted in a solid waste management project. It refers to sorting garbage according to what is consists.

BRIQUETTES MAKING PROCESS FROM GARBAGE

The charcoal making process from garbage.

Raw materials: Banana peels, paper etc, Cassava flour/Cow dung/Clay, charcoal fine,office papers, your pass papers,old books, empty boxes of biscuits and soap, old news papers.

Equipment: Charring drum, Crushing machine, Stick briquette machine

Procedure:

Collect peelings from bananas,

Dry and sort the peelings

Burn the dried and sorted material in the charring drum
U can alternatively use papers whicb u used since primary books,pass papers,pffice  papers,empt e boxes, or cardboard, 

·Prepare the binder that is either Cassava porridge, clay mixture or cow dung mixture

·Crush the burnt peels using the grinding machine and mix with the prepared binder.

· Pour mixture in the briquette machine and produce briquettes

· Dry the briquettes under the sun to finally produce charcoal

Briquette making is one field the federation is definitely bound to invest in. The federation is aware of the fact that  here in East Africa, where biomass dominates the domestic energy market, briquetting technology is gaining momentum particularly as wood resources become scarcer and the price of regular charcoal increases. The way forward now is to carry out more training in this, start projects on the same and carry out peer to peer exchanges so as to learn from each other.
